About Us
The Hagersville Wado Karate-Do Club is a member of South Western Ontario Regional Wado Karate-Do Organization (SWOR) and a Regional Member of the Martial Arts Promotional and Development (MAPDA). A traditional non-for-profit karate organization since 1993. Founded by Sensei Masaru Shintani, and based on the teachings of Hironori Otsuka Sensei.
The Hagersville club (dojo) was started in the mid 1980s under the direction of instructor Sensei Lawrence Blakemore and was operated by a number of black belts. The Dojo is currently operated out of St Mary's Catholic School (6 Mud Street in Hagersville, ON). Sensei Ron Mongrain is Head Sensei.
Traditional karate-do is taught at the club, complemented with training in Jujitsu basics and Shindo (short staff).
Karate for Kids
Karate is great for kids as exercise. Plus for many students, karate can be a lot of fun! Many mistakenly think karate teaches children violence and fighting, but that is far from the truth. At the Hagersville Wado Karate-Do Club, the students learn discipline and self-respect, but most of all, they learn respect for others.
Karate for Adults
It's never too late to start martial arts! Karate not only exercises your body, but your mind as well.
